During the sessions, a variety of techniques designed to address students’ specific areas of difficulty and to improve their overall ability to think, reason, and process information are implemented. Techniques emphasize basic skill areas (such as- reading, writing, spelling, and math) and cognitive skills (such as- auditory comprehension/memory, visual comprehension/memory, and long term memory). Read more about NILD Educational Therapy on NILD Canada’s website.
Search & Teach

Search and Teach is an enrichment program for children from kindergarten through grade two. Sessions are typically 45-60 minutes in length with a frequency of two times a week. The program can also be completed using a home program, which includes a once a week in office session with nightly games that the child plays with a parent at home.
Search and Teach includes a variety of techniques designed to address student’s specific areas of difficulty, particularly the perceptual weaknesses identified in the Search Scan. The tasks are grouped in clusters which include visual, visual-motor, auditory, body-image, and intermodal skills. Read more on NILD Canada’s website.
Integrated Listening Services- Focus System

ILS, also called sound therapy, uses bone conduction and filtered classical music to stimulate the brain. While completing the listening portion, the student engages in activities that stimulate visual motor integration, the vestibular, hemispheric integration, sustained attention, etc. It has been used to help ADHD symptoms, autistic tendencies, auditory processing difficulties, processing speed, sensory processing, motor skills, speech/language, and multi-tasking. The student has one session every other week in office and nightly hourly sessions at home with music/physical activities. For more information, visit iLs- Focus.
Rhythmic Movement

Rhythmic movement is geared toward students who have had some form of trauma during the birth process or later in life. Babies learn through movement and when there has been some disruption of maturation of these movements (prime example: not completing the progression from roll to crawl to walk), the child will often struggle in learning, posture, memory, coordination, sensory processing, and emotions/behaviour. The student has one session every other week in office and completes the same exercises with his/her parent nightly. For more information on this technique, visit Rhythmic Movement.
Tutoring
The tutoring program is geared toward students that struggle with course-related concepts but have the foundational skill set required to complete the work. This is the highest level program that we offer and is not geared toward students who need intensive remediation.
Voice Pro
Specifically designed to target auditory processing, VoicePro is in addition to iLs-Focus. It is begun after six to twelve months of iLs- Focus and has activities that improves articulation, auditory memory, and hearing in muffled areas or noisy backgrounds. It is completed entirely in office and is usually incorporated into an already established program. For more specifics, visit VoicePro.
